I have to say, it was a thrill to walk into Henri Bendel and see our bracelets at the Bracelet Bar on the ground floor. The concept for the space is great... like a self serve ice cream topping station at a fancy wedding. There's a huge assortment of different types of bracelets from leather to plastic, to metal, with beads, gems, studs, charms, and rivets. To be in such a great store with a new product line is truly exciting. The cuffs are in great company, in the mix of a lot of top brands. If you find yourself uptown, I recommend popping in to check out the whole scene. - Matt
We just finished with a great Coterie show at the Javits Center in NYC. We got to show our Spring 2010 collection for the first time in NY, and it was great. It was a busy show and we saw all of our best accounts and all of our friends in the industry. There was great buzz at the show. As summer '09 comes to an end, it is great to look forward to the coming of spring in 6 months, although we are well aware we have a serious New York winter to get through. All of our top accounts will be continuing to grow with us, and we have many exciting new accounts that we will update you about in the coming months. 2010 is looking to be a very exciting year for Matt Bernson Design, LLC. Here are a few photos of our booth at the show. Our theme was "psychedelic picnic", as if you need to be told, as it is pretty obvious.
We may never get written up in the Sunday Times, but we get written up in the Rio Sunday Times in Brazil. And that is enough for us. Not to mention a 4 page article. Of course we have no idea what it says. The reporter is very sweet, so we are sure it is all positive.
We were just in Las Vegas where we debuted the Special Project KM Gladiator sandal at the Project Show. Every female employee was wearing a pair. It was quite a sight to witness a sea of sandal transparency in every direction. The Special Project KM was designed to embody the essence of the Project Show, which is the ultimate insiders event in fashion. So we chose to make the KM Gladiator in a way that you see its function, and slightly obscure the form.
Check in soon as we debut the limited edition pairs of this style that has already become a cult favorite.
Nestled in the studious heart of Harvard Square (Cambridge MA's elite and gorgeous center of academia and real-life social networking) lies one of our favorite stores: The Tannery.
Founded in 1973, The Tannery quickly become one of Boston's ultimate shopping destinations, and remains that way to this day. More than ever, actually.
They've recently remodeled, adding a subtle, futuristic tilt on an already classic design; gorgeous wood counters, huge bright windows, clean white light, and even added several concept stores to their already formidable presence. There's an exclusive limited-edition sneaker store between the two Tannery storefronts. There's an underground "locker room" vault for VIP parties and celebrity clientele. There's an amazing selection of top designers at very reasonable prices. And there's our sandals. (And soon, our boots and flats.)
I actually met Tarek (who owns the store) years ago, when I used to live and work in Boston. I was bartending at B&G Oysters in the South End, and this gigantic man would pull up in front of the restaurant in his silver Porsche with his gloriously beautiful girlfriend and idle up to the bar, usually around 11pm. I had wine poured as they landed in their stools, and ordered their regular of Nicoise salads and fresh Wellfleets. I became friendly with Tarek, and he even let me buy a pair of fancy jeans at wholesale one day. (I almost died!)
Obviously not the most fascinating story (unless you have a fetish for the mundane) but when I was in the position to work with the Tannery years later, I jumped.
We're proud and honored to be working with them, so if you're in the Boston area, check them out.
And if you need a few oysters shucked, I still got it.

We were thrilled to participate with (Ri)1 the new rye whiskey in the Perfect Pairings event in the Penthouse Suite at the Royalton Hotel on July 30th. (Ri)1 came to us with the idea to pair signature cocktails with some of the more popular styles in our collection. We displayed our shoes and a mixologist conceived drinks that went with the theme of our different collections. It was a great way for the press to get a look at our current fall line as well as a sneak peak at some new styles that we are introducing for Spring 2010. The drinks were a hit, (Ri)1 is a mellow easy to drink whiskey that mixes really well into fun drinks. The favorite drink of the event was the Style and Spice with (Ri)1, lemon, and ginger. Bruce, our Director of Sales had no less than 14 of those, and still made it to work on time the next day - impressive.
Here is the recipe for the Style and Spice:
2oz (Ri)1 rye whiskey
3/4 oz Tawny Port
1/2 oz Ginger Syrup
3/4 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
1/4 oz Simple Syrup
Splash of Club Soda
Shake with in a mixing tin, strain and pour over ice with club soda.
Missy Elliot would be proud.
As I approached our Tribeca studio this morning, I was stunned by the calculated devastation impeding my entry.
Greenwich Street is in ruins!
Vestry's ancient cobblestones are being flung like pebbles!
Giant mechanical arms are probing the bowels of this city!
As hot as this sounds, it makes for a rather interesting soundtrack.
And by interesting I mean brutal.
Now, I may be an incredibly high powered fashion executive, but I still have to deal with the day-to-day ordeals of common, urban life.
But, (as it was explained to me) this city needs new water pipes.
I just hope those pipes are clean.

At Matt Bernson HQ, we humbly go about our business, making the world a safer, sexier place for the feet of the women of the world.
It's no easy task, but we manage to get by.
Of course, if it weren't for a few trusted office staples, we'd be in trouble.
Here are the top 10 items we couldn't live without in our Tribeca studio:
10. ANTIQUE COUCH :: Trust me. You can sleep on it.
9. MUJI .38MM PENS :: I enjoy wielding Japanese power. And writing with it.
8. TAPE GUN :: For boxes. And kidnappees.
7. PERFECT PUSHUP :: How else am I supposed to stay fit? (Someone please destroy these things.)
6. WATER COOLER :: The only area designated for "True Blood" discussion. Oh Sookie!
5. DUST-OFF :: I don't have allergies. But I should.
4. TYLENOL :: Charity Events tend to run a little late. Or I just forget to leave.
3. RED STRIPE :: I don't drink coffee.
2. DICE :: If I'm ever low on cash, a quick game of "Fives" seems to help.
1. MASAI BONKER :: If it's late, and we don't know you, this will be our introduction.

We got word from our Vegas man on the inside that Jewel is wearing our newest style the Nouer IV, which is currently found exclusively at Scoop. Looks like he caught her in the dressing room... nice work Donato. If you need anything and I mean anything, go to Scoop at Caesars in Vegas and ask for Donato, and he will be sure to hook it up. Well, he will at least help you find a pair of MB's.
